Hi, how are you?? 💕 How was your first week of 2017?
For the past few weeks, I have been trying out L’Oréal’s Extraordinary Clay products that I received complimentary from Influenster to test and review. The Extraordinary Clay hair expert line promises purified roots and hydrated ends of up to 48 hours.
As someone who has bipolar hair – oily but yet flaky scalp and dry ends – I decided to test the Extraordinary Clay system for two weeks to see if it delivers on its promises.
L’Oréal Extraordinary Clay Pre-Shampoo Mask
Price: $6.99
The Extraordinary Clay Pre-Shampoo Mask claims to deeply absorb oil and impurities leaving the scalp feeling fresh and purified.
Okay, first of all, this mask smells AMAZING. It smells so fresh and clean! I really like the mask, but it seems SO tedious to spend over five minutes sectioning my hair and applying the mask all over my roots. I just don’t think it’s very practical for me. But hey, I’m just a typical no-fuss-shampoo-and-conditioner kinda girl. I can definitely see myself using the mask on days where I wanna pamper myself, but definitely not on a weekly basis.
The first time I applied the mask, I was silly enough to do it with my top on. Let’s just say I had to do laundry that very same day to get the mask stains out! haha Don’t make the same mistake I did! 🙈 Instead, wear a robe!
I did find myself having to use a lot of product. I think a tub of mask would only last about at most eight uses. This might be because I have A LOT of hair and needed a lot of product to fully cover all of my roots.
Overall, I really liked the mask and found that it did a great job of making my scalp feel really fresh and purified. My scalp was noticeably less oily and greasy even after 48 hours.
The Marblelous Verdict: B+
L’Oréal Extraordinary Clay Shampoo
Price: $4.99
Using three different Refined Clays, the Extraordinary Clay Shampoo is silicone-free and claims to purify oily roots and hydrate dry lengths without weighing hair down.
Like the mask, this shampoo smells equally amazing! My hair felt amazingly fresh and clean after use. I love that only a little over a quarter-sized amount is needed to work up a lather for my full head of hair. I did find the shampoo to be a little drying on my hair, but after two days, my hair still felt really light without the weigh down of oil and grease.
The Marblelous Verdict: A
L’Oréal Extraordinary Clay Conditioner
Price: $4.99
Similarly to the Extraordinary Shampoo, the Extraordinary Clay Conditioner is silicone-free, formulated with three Refined Clays, and claims to purify oily roots and hydrate dry lengths without weighing hair down.
Like the mask and shampoo, this conditioner smells amazing! Seriously, I would repurchase the shampoo and conditioner solely because of the fresh and clean scent! However, I wish this conditioner had a thicker consistency and was more moisturizing and nourishing than it is. It did leave my dry ends feeling soft and bouncy, but my dry ends could use an extra moisturizing kick!
The Marblelous Verdict: A-
So there you have it! What do you think about the Extraordinary Clay hair expert system? 💕
