I’ve gotta be honest with you, I’ve ALWAYS been a girly girl. You would think that growing up with two older brothers and being the only girl in my family that I’d somehow be a little bit of a tomboy, but I never was interested in “boy stuff” like sports, cars, or even gaming. In fact, I clearly remember how much one of my brothers LOVED gaming, so much so that I swore that I’d NEVER ever date a gamer (let alone marry one).
Fast forward a decade later, and here I am actually ENGAGED to a gamer. Vic has always been a huge video game enthusiast with his favorite being his Xbox, and it became clear to me early on that I could never change that about him. So instead, I decided to embrace his love for gaming and I’ve been his number one supporter while he built his gaming setup from scratch. I’m talking TWO wide screen monitors, his PC that he built himself, and his plethora of RGB accessories and Xbox consoles. He even has an limited edition Star Wars R2-D2 Xbox 360 that makes THE CUTEST R2-D2 sounds when it turns on and off.
Vic has always tried to encourage me to game with him, but I’ve always been reluctant especially since I have TERRIBLE hand-eye coordination and one could even say that I’m a little directionally challenged (I may be in my 20s but I STILL have trouble differentiating left and right. Go figure. haha) But after much coaxing, I finally gave in and decided to give it a try.
Now let’s be real, I may need A LOT of help, direction, and supervision from Vic while gaming, and I’m not even the sliiiiightest bit good with my sad little 5.50 Kill-Death Ratio in Call of Duty, but at least I have a lot of fun (even if most of the time I’m just laughing at myself). haha
I also learnt that I’ve had a HUGE misconception about gaming – It isn’t ALL about shooting each other or killing zombies. There’s actually games that I actually enjoy that aligns with my interests better such as the Hasbro Family Fun Pack (includes Monopoly, Risk, Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit), Game of Thrones, and Just Dance.
Xbox recently sent us their new Xbox One S All-Digital Edition to check out, and although Vic already owns three different Xbox consoles (the Xbox One X, Xbox One, and Xbox 360), he has a preference for their new console since it’s all-digital with no disc drive. He said that since he doesn’t actually own physical video game discs (he buys the digital downloads for his games), he loves that Xbox has created a new console that aligns better with his all-digital lifestyle.
And I couldn’t agree more! Especially since the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is only $249.99 (that’s $50 cheaper than the regular Xbox One S)! Also, from now until the 22nd of June, there’s an Xbox E3 sale that saves you an ADDITIONAL $50 making it only $199, which can be purchased at Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, and Microsoft Store!
I love that you can easily build a library of your favorite digital Xbox One games in the cloud (it has 1TB of space), which then allows you to travel anywhere with your console disc-free. If you’re a beginner gamer like me, this is also the PERFECT and most affordable way to start gaming and join the Xbox One family without breaking the bank. It also allows you to stream Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and more in 4K HDR!!!
On top of all that, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition actually already comes with THREE free digital games: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves. Out of the three, my favorite is definitely Minecraft because it lets me unleash my creative side and build things – I feel like such an architect, ha!
I also love that I now have my VERY OWN Xbox all to myself – no more having to share, yay! It makes video game date nights that much more fun since we don’t have to split screen anymore – he can use his gaming setup and I can use our TV!
